A guide to getting started.
Get Fit Planner helps adults navigate their first gym visits with simple instructions and a place to track practice.
Free for everyone
The full 30-visit program, checklists, notes and progress tracking are free. Explore at your own pace and return whenever you like.
About the exercise content
The exercise content is a draft and has not yet been reviewed by a qualified trainer. Ask gym staff to help with equipment setup and technique.
How the visits work
Two simple routines alternate over three chapters. The first chapter focuses on learning equipment with one light set. Later visits offer an optional second set and reminders about comfortable progression. You can repeat visits or take breaks; there is no deadline.
Get help with your setup
Machines vary between gyms. Ask staff to demonstrate controls, adjust seats and check your technique before starting. The three-stage illustrations are simplified movement sketches. Linked videos from NASM and PureGym show real demonstrations, but the equipment may differ from your gym. Neither provider has reviewed or endorsed our program. This guide does not replace an induction, personalised coaching, medical advice or rehabilitation.
Move at a comfortable pace
Warm up with easy movement, choose light resistance, breathe freely and allow recovery between strength sessions. Stop an exercise if it causes pain. If you have a health condition, injury or concerns about exercising, get advice from a qualified professional before starting.
